Extract from Petro Plastics Case Study

Petro Plastics has found a solution for the slip hazards created by pellet resins and chips and dust residue from grinders and saws. There are also environmental issues from resin pellets and scrap cuttings that wash into surrounding waterways.

Lou Petrozziello, General Manager of Petro Plastics, looked for an inexpensive and effective method of solving both the environmental and the slip hazard problem simultaneously. Upon analyzing the situation within the plant, Lou found "it was really just a constant cleaning problem" that was not being solved by a man with a broom. They needed a system that could clean spills both inside and outside the plant, including the loading dock and around the dumpster area.

The Elgee Power Vac Sweeper was his answer. "It's a vacuum sweeper with enough power to suck up anything we throw at it. Not only does it clean up pellets, chips and cuttings, but we use it in our warehouse area to vacuum shrink wrap, strapping, and chucks of wood from pallets," Lou said. Workers just walk the Power-Vac up and down aisles or use the instant action hose (attached) to vacuum inaccessible areas. The propane powered system gave them maximum power and versatility to work inside and outside. And an added benefit is that maintenance people cover the plant in a fraction of the time and do a more effective job.

The Elgee electric Power-Vac has been a wonderful tool for our large commercial horse-boarding facility. Our barn aisles have rubber safety mats installed over concrete. During the day these mats collect wet sawdust, manure chunks, and long pieces of hay that are very difficult to sweep up with a broom. Our Power-Vac handles everything beautifully! It is easy to maneuver around the barn, it fits through doorways, and it is significantly quieter and cleaner than a blower. Not only does our sturdy yellow vacuum help use keep our barn looking pristine, we save at least 30 minutes a day in labor as well. Highly recommended for horse barns!

At Courtside we purchased two Elgee Sweepers to remove dust and fuzz from the surface of our tennis courts. Both sweepers are relatively noise free and have worked very well in keeping our courts in great condition for our members. After a few weeks of service the surface of the courts looked so much better that we received compliments from members about the appearance of our courts. The machines are easy to maintain and require little maintenance. Training time for our workers is short as learning to operate the machines is easy and for the most part self explanatory. These machines do a much better job than the hand powered sweepers used in most racquet clubs. In addition, the man hours required are shorter because of the increased size of the swept area. In the long run we expect to make up the difference between our machine and the hand powered machine in labor costs. The Elgee company provided us with the necessary service and info regarding the machines.

In short, we are very pleased with the results the machines generated and it is very easy to write a recommendation for Elgee Sweepers.

We are using a gas operated Elgee Power Vacuum to remove dust and fuzz from the West Orange Tennis Club courts for about 6 years.
In this period, we just did periodically oil/air filter change and acquired a second bag to have it as a spare; other than that, the machine runs like new.
It has worked very well in keeping the courts in great condition for their members. The machine’s ease of use and upkeep makes it a pleasure to own.
These machines do a much better job than the hand powered sweepers used in most clubs. It cuts down on time and effort because of the larger area coverage. In the long run it has been a cost effective purchase that we would gladly consider doing again.

The customer service personnel at Elgee will do everything within their power to assist customers and I recommend them very highly.
